Three Michelin Stars at Schloss Schauenstein

Schloss Schauenstein Restaurant

When I asked Jean George Klein in which restaurant he would like to eat that he hasn’t eaten in yet, his answer was Schauenstein in Graubünden in Switzerland.

It is fairly hard to get a table there, but if you go to their website, they have days available at short notice. This is exactly what I did and one week after Monsieur Klein told me I should try Andreas Caminada’s cooking, we did!

February 12, 2012, was a cold day, but we arrived to a very warm reception at Schauenstein Castle. With only 26 covers, Schauenstein is one of the smallest restaurants in the “Top 100″ list (23/100) and since being awarded three Michelin stars in November 2010, it is even harder to get into than in previous years (unless you use my top tip above).

Andreas Caminada also has 19 points in the Swiss Gault & Millau guide. This is an amazing achievement for the 34 year old, modest Swiss guy

I was lucky enough to spend some time with him in his kitchen. It was an awesome lunch, and I will let the photos speak for themselves.
