TEDxLugano 2017 – Professions of the future

Sep 9, 2017

CHF80

My relationship with TED talks can be best described in two phases. First, as a traveller I used to watch the talks whenever I found time – whether it was in an airport, a hotel room or while in public transport. The second phase is much more intense, as in the last five years, I have been working closely with the TEDx community.

Interesting topics at TEDxLugano

Which made me think: “When was the last time I sat among the audience and watched a live TEDx talk?” I attended TEDx Youth in Adliswil two years ago. And this year, I am looking forward to visiting a new city where the TEDx event will be hosted: Lugano.

You don’t need many reasons to visit Ticino. (It’s beautiful there.) But this Saturday, I am excited to be part of the audience for TEDxLugano. It will be Lugano’s fourth TEDx edition, and the topic is dear to me: “Professions of the Future”.

As an entrepreneur, I am sensitive to topics that define the way we work moving forward. Leadership and storytelling are some of the key topics that remain relevant, and I am curious to know what Fateme Banishoeib, a leadership consultant and poet, will share with us.

Another area that is key in a start-up business is visibility. We live in a chaotic digital world and it is going to get worse unless we learn the art of constant adaptation in digital marketing and branding. Ale Agostini will talk about his expertise in digital marketing while Dorie Clark will throw some insights on branding.

As the Artificial Intelligence advancement continues, there are many a reason why one must pay close attention to these developments. Automation is here to stay and it can serve as an excellent tool if we understand and make it to work to our needs. Anna Valente, Wyatt Newman, Behshad Behzadi, Jami El-Imad, Henrique Jorge and Kathryn Hess Bellwald touch upon the wide field of computer science and its applications.

Though there are many start-ups on the rise, one must not forget that the corporates are going to stay. They will remain relevant if they adopt the cultural sensitivities in the open market that the world of business operates. Every start-up aims to go big sometime and understanding corporate culture will help in hiring smart people and solving problems better.

Harald Port talks about creating business values in his talk.
Frank Barkow is an architect and I am keen to know from an architect’s perspective about their challenges involved with advancing technology and the need for sustainable buildings.

As you can tell, I am excited about the speaker’s line-up.

What am I hoping for? As always, to get inspired! And most importantly, to learn something new and network with other audience members.
