SUMMARY:Catch the CATS Musical in Basel (2023)
DESCRIPTION:Meow! Come January\, you will get a chance to catch the original English-language production of the CATS Musical in Basel. \n\n\n\nThe musical is set on a full moon night in a London junkyard. Once a year\, this is where the Jellicle cats meet for a ball. And so\, little by little\, the junkyard becomes alive with cats of all types. \n\n\n\nEach cat has a colorful personality\, such as the brave Munkustrap and the forgiveness-seeking Grizabella. Everyone is fighting for the attention of one particular cat: the magical Mr. Mistoffelees. \n\n\n\nHere's a fun fact: the songs in the CATS musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber are based on the 1939 poetry collection Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAre you ready to meet the felines of the CATS Musical in Basel? 🌕🐈\n\n\n\nElectrifying dancing\, beautiful costumes\, and elaborate stage decorations are just some of the reasons for this musical's long-lasting popularity. \n\n\n\nThe CATS Musical was initially released in London's West End in May 1981. One of the chief reasons it is still being performed globally is the memorable soundtrack by Andrew Lloyd Webber (no pun intended!) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCATS is a splendid musical suitable for all ages\n\n\n\nCATS beguiles adults and children alike\, whisking audiences away to the enigmatic realm of the Jellicle Cats. The mélange of felines embody some typical human traits - from ravishing Rum Tum Tugger to lewd Macavity and heavenly Victoria. \n\n\n\nThe musical has been performed in over 30 countries to an audience of more than 73 million. By the time Grizabella hits the stage to pour her life's emotions into "Memory\," you will see why this is a timeless classic. \n\n\n\nMore information and tickets

SUMMARY:Spend a night at Zürich Museums - Lange Nacht der Museen
DESCRIPTION:Copyright Lange Nacht der Zürcher Museen\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery first Saturday of September\, several dozen Zürich museums open their doors for a special night of cultural events: Lange Nacht der Museen. \n\n\n\nNight owls\, listen up: whether you are interested in art and culture\, are crazy about science and technology\, or just fancy a romantic ferry ride\, you will surely be able to enjoy Zürich's museums at night. \n\n\n\nThe so-called "Long Night of Zürich Museums" starts at 6 PM and does not close until 2 AM the following morning. Nearly fifty Zürich museums and cultural venues usually participate in what is one of the most popular Zürich events each year. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSome highlights at Lange Nacht der Museen\n\n\n\nThe Pavillon Le Corbusier in Seefeld usually opens their doors late at night: \n\n\n\nCopyright Lange Nacht der Zürcher Museen\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMuseum für Gestaltung is one of our favorites: \n\n\n\nCopyright Lange Nacht der Zürcher Museen\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnd finally\, we love the Zurich Tram Museum where all the antique trams are stored: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEach of the museums has its own program of events that may include tours\, lectures\, and talks. There will be something for everyone\, from photography workshops for kids to some special shows for people with hearing or visual impairments. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExperience Zürich culture at night\n\n\n\nIt is no secret that Zürich is a city with money\, so culture is very well supported. Housing some of the finest museums and art galleries in Switzerland\, Zürich enjoys a vibrant cultural scene. The two most popular museums in Zurich are the Kunsthaus Zürich art museum\, as well as the Swiss National Museum. \n\n\n\nThe Kunsthaus Zürich is best known for its sculptures of Rodin and Alberto Giacometti. There you will also find world-famous painters like Monet\, Van Gogh\, and Picasso. The Swiss National Museum\, which is right beside the Zürich main train station in a mock-Gothic castle\, showcases creative and interesting displays about Swiss history and culture.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFerry service to Seefeld\n\n\n\nUsually\, a special ferry service connects some of the participating museums in the Seefeld area (Seefeldquartier). Riding on the "MS Sentosa" ferry is yet another cool benefit of "Lange Nacht der Zürcher Museen"! Once you have tried the ferry and museum shuttle\, grab a free bicycle courtesy of "Züri rollt" and pedal to your next destination. \n\n\n\nThe museums and art galleries of Zurich enjoy almost 1.5 million visitors a year. SUMMARY:Festival Images in Vevey 2022
DESCRIPTION:Festival Images in Vevey is an enormous street art festival that showcases the best in visual arts. This outdoor experience returns for the eighth time in 2022. \n\n\n\nThose who have followed us may recall that we have visited the Festival Images in previous years. The last edition in 2020 left us with vivid memories of Vevey’s fountains\, buildings\, and parks enveloped in art. \n\n\n\nThe festival organizers have announced various indoor exhibits\, outdoor installations\, and large-scale murals across Vevey this year. And we were stoked to have reported on-site during the opening weekend! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHere are the 2022 Festival Images highlights:\n\n\n\nThis year’s theme is prone to creating a sense of community: Together. La vie ensemble. It illuminates togetherness relating to all aspects of life: culture\, cuisine\, family\, love\, politics\, sports\, religion\, tourism\, science\, and technology. \n\n\n\nThe common theme of photography unites the 50 installations by artists from around the world. Among the 25 nations represented at Festival Images Vevey are Japan\, Guatemala\, Spain\, and South Africa. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow about this temporary minigolf track by Lake Geneva? Each track is built around a photographs\, and some of the challenges are pretty hard... Can you guess who won? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNear Salle del Castillo\, American artist Diana Markosian has recreated her family history as a TV soap opera. Entitled Santa Barbara\, this multimedia experience offers visual storytelling at its best. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTeju Cole\, a Nigerian-American photographer\, has captured tourism in Switzerland from unique vantage points: \n\n\n\nCopyright Teju Cole\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFestival Images is not merely about displaying photographs. It is an immersive experience in that the art is displayed in just the right location. For instance\, this photograph of a cat by Mimi Mollica is inside a building with a mouse door entrance. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter a quick coffee\, we head over to the Swiss Camera Museum. Escapism by Swiss artist Roger Eberhard is a must-see exhibit. Believe it or not\, but each print shows a magnified creamer lid! According to the artist\, these lids allow us to go on micro escapes during everyday life: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDuring the three-week festival\, Vevey is being transformed into an outdoor art museum. We love to go on walks to stumble upon unique murals such as this one by Thomas Struth. It showcases Manhattan in the 1970's. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat are you waiting for? Run\, don't walk to Vevey! And keep an eye out for our announcement of the next edition of the biennale in 2024! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHave you been to Festival Images Vevey? SUMMARY:Wine and Dine Cruise on Lake Lucerne (Aug 27)
DESCRIPTION:Central Switzerland is the quintessential place to experience it all: snow-capped peaks\, sun-drenched villages\, traditional events\, and one stunning Lake Lucerne. \n\n\n\nThe Lake Lucerne Navigation Company with its fleet of steamboats\, ferries\, and even a high-tech yacht also offers specialty cruises. We can wholeheartedly recommend their Wine and Dine Cruise on the historic steam paddler Stadt Luzern. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat's on the menu of the Wine and Dine Cruise?\n\n\n\nAfter boarding the steamboat at pier 6 in Lucerne\, the experience starts with an apéro at 6:30 PM. Executive Chef Florian Gilges has created some appetizers\, especially for this cruise. Think Sbrinz mousse or apricot mustard... It will be up to you whether to toast with a glass of bubbly or the boat company’s own brew! \n\n\n\nThe products on the night's menu are regional\, be it the lamb from Göscheneralp or the locally roasted coffee from Rast Kaffee. This local connection is also the neat thing about this culinary cruise. \n\n\n\nThen\, as you take a seat and indulge in the chef’s creations\, the crew will inform you about special sights and suppliers. This creates a sensory connection between the dishes and their origin. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHere are some impressions of our Wine & Dine Cruise in August 2021:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe town of Meggen with its vineyards cultivates the organic Solaris AOC Luzern vintage. And just as the boat passes by\, you get to listen to the sommelière's description of the wine\, meanwhile tasting it for yourself. \n\n\n\nThe four-course dinner features ingredients from many regional suppliers. For instance\, the family-run Bühlhof farm in the village of Greppen supplies the turkey meat. \n\n\n\nThe Wine and Dine Cruise on Lake Lucerne not only offers fine dining with wine pairings but also scenic views of central Switzerland. In late August\, the sunset takes place around 8:15 PM - making for a perfect setting for a toast on the boat deck. Arrival back at the pier in Lucerne is scheduled for 10 PM\, but the boat remains open for one last nightcap... \n\n\n\nReserve your ticket online

SUMMARY:Double Cream Festival in Gruyères
DESCRIPTION:Meringues and cream\, anyone? Gruyères is once again inviting foodies to the popular Double Cream Festival. \n\n\n\nThe Double Cream Festival in Gruyères is quite possibly one of the sweetest events in Switzerland. It's one entire weekend dedicated to the creamy ingredient that makes desserts that much better. \n\n\n\n Copyright La Gruyère Tourisme \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat the Double Cream Festival in Gruyères is all about\n\n\n\nLet's have a look at what’s on the festival's menu. Shops and restaurants in the heart of Gruyère's old town will take care of sweet and savory treats. From an alpine soup to Älpler Magronen\, different cakes to double cream candy... In previous years\, there was even a workshop to learn how this dangerously delicious mass is being made. \n\n\n\nAre the local bakers and confectioners going to try and break the world record by creating the largest meringue in the world? It remains to be seen. But if they do\, you can buy a chunk of meringue with a big dip of double cream on top! \n\n\n\nThe Double Cream Festival program also includes folk music\, cow parades\, and special exhibitions of double cream spoons and ancient agricultural machines. The entrance fees started at 18 francs\, which included various benefits such as free tastings\, a castle entrance\, and discounts for shops and museums. \n\n\n\nCopyright La Gruyère Tourisme

SUMMARY:Wine and Dine Cruise on Lake Lucerne (May 21)
DESCRIPTION:Central Switzerland is the quintessential place to experience it all: snow-capped peaks\, sun-drenched villages\, traditional events\, and one stunning Lake Lucerne. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat's on the menu of the Wine and Dine Cruise?\n\n\n\nAfter boarding the steamboat at pier 6 in Lucerne\, the experience starts with an apéro at 6:30 PM. \n\n\n\nAs you take a seat and indulge in the chef’s creations\, the crew will inform you about special sights and suppliers. This creates a sensory connection between the dishes and their origin. \n\n\n\nTake the town of Meggen with its vineyards: it cultivates the organic Solaris AOC Luzern vintage you might be sipping at the very moment you pass by. Or the family-run Bühlhof farm in the village of Greppen which supplies the turkey meat. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHere are some impressions of our Wine & Dine Cruise in August 2021:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Wine and Dine Cruise on Lake Lucerne not only offers fine dining with wine pairings but also scenic views of central Switzerland. And with a bit of luck\, you might just experience the summer's most striking sunset... \n\n\n\nOn May 21\, the sunset takes place at 9:00 PM - roughly the time this cruise is headed from Vitznau back towards Lucerne. Arrival at the pier in Lucerne is scheduled for 10 PM and we might just meet each other onboard! Yours truly has already reserved a table... \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMore information\n\n\n\nThe all-inclusive price of 179 francs per person covers the table reservation\, roundtrip fare\, apéro\, four-course dinner with wine pairing\, as well as non-alcoholic beverages such as coffee or water. \n\n\n\nReserve your ticket online

SUMMARY:The CATS Musical in Zurich - catch it if you can! (2022)
DESCRIPTION:Copyright musical.ch\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe crowd-pleasing felines return to Switzerland this spring. The CATS Musical in Zurich is performed in the original English language - meow! \n\n\n\nDuring one full moon night\, a junkyard in London is turned into a ballroom. Once a year\, the Jellicle cats gather for a ball where one by one\, they reveal their colorful personalities. Meet the brave Munkustrap and the forgiveness-seeking Grizabella. Among other cats\, they will take over the spotlight as they vie for the attention of the magical Mr. Mistoffelees... \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe CATS Musical in Zurich is one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterpieces\n\n\n\nElectrifying dancing\, beautiful costumes\, and elaborate stage decorations are just some of the reasons for this musical's long-lasting popularity. (I still remember the time I saw the CATS Musical in my childhood.) \n\n\n\nThe CATS Musical was originally released in London's West End in May 1981. One of the chief reasons why it is still being performed globally to this day is the memorable soundtrack by Andrew Lloyd Webber (no pun intended!) \n\n\n\nBy the time Grizabella hits the stage to pour her life's emotions into "Memory"\, you will see why this musical has attracted a global audience of more than 73 million in over 30 countries. \n\n\n\nMore information and tickets

SUMMARY:Alpaca Painting Workshops in Switzerland (2022)
DESCRIPTION:Don't we all love alpacas? What if we told you that there's an alpaca painting workshop where you'll be surrounded by the cuddly animals? \n\n\n\nEver since we've participated in a session of alpaca yoga\, we could not stop talking about the experience. The ingenious organizers have once again reached out to us with a new proposition: an outdoor alpaca painting workshop! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat an alpaca painting workshop is about 🦙🎨\n\n\n\n"A lot of people enjoy painting alpaca pictures because it somehow unleashes their inner creativity\," explains Aline of the Alpaka Erlebnisse Kollektiv. This co-op is behind the various alpaca-related events in Switzerland. \n\n\n\nEach session is instructed by Jana Schafroth\, a Swiss artist and illustrator. While wanna-be Picassos like you and me are seated on the alpaca pasture with easel\, canvas\, and paintbrush in hand\, Jana will give some initial instructions. In her own alpaca artwork\, Jana focuses on the animals' souls and the nature surrounding them. Alpacas are curious creatures\, so they will likely interact with workshop participants. \n\n\n\nAt the end of the two-hour session\, we each get to keep our acrylic painting. This could make for a nice gift with a personal touch. Or you could hang it in a prime location of your apartment where you see it every day. \n\n\n\nAlpaca painting workshops are available in these locations: \n\n\n\nMaur (ZH)Köniz (BE)Hägendorf (SO)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n(All photographs copyright Angelina Müller)

SUMMARY:“Monet’s Immersive Garden” Experience in Zurich
DESCRIPTION:Monet’s garden has served as the subject of countless paintings\, drawings\, and pastels. An immersive 360-degree experience brings one of the 20th century’s finest artists to life: Monet’s Immersive Garden. \n\n\n\n“In front of your eyes\, illusions become reality.” When an exhibit teases with a phrase like this\, my curiosity is sparked. Having visited previous exhibits at Lichthalle MAAG\, I can only imagine how colorful and vibrant this production will be. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMonet’s Immersive Garden features video and sound\n\n\n\nEnhanced with visual and acoustic techniques\, the exhibit takes us straight to the heart of Monet’s infamous garden with its waterlily pond. Monet’s Immersive Garden combines images from no less than 40 projectors. \n\n\n\nThis production combines video with acoustic sound effects and music to create a dazzling world of color. Pixels replace Monet’s brush strokes. Through the use of magnification\, animation\, and sound\, we get to view the artist’s work in entirely new ways. \n\n\n\nWhen you purchase your ticket\, ask for an English audio guide. The exhibit is narrated in German only. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSome quick facts about Claude Monet\n\n\n\nHe was born on November 14\, 1840\, in Paris\, but he grew up in the harbor city of Le Havre\, where he spent most of his childhood and youth. As a child\, he would sit down with a pencil and paper and doodle. He used to caricature politicians and his neighbors when he was a teen.Claude Monet was a talented artist\, but not everyone in his family was. His father had a grocery business and viewed him as his successor\, not as an artist. After the death of his mother in 1857\, only his aunt\, a self-taught artist\, provided advice and supported him in his ambition to pursue a career in art.Monet was an avid gardener. He studied reference books\, went to exhibitions\, and sought expert guidance. In 1883\, Monet was drawn to Giverny\, a village in northern France’s Normandy region. This is where he would cultivate the infamous orchard with exotic plants\, flowers\, and the water lily pond. The garden served as a retreat and a source of creative inspiration for Monet. For the next 30 years\, he would make the water lily pond the defining motif of his art.Monet used to pay a gardener just to dust his water lilies. Every morning\, the gardener would delicately wash and dust the lily pads from a small boat.Once clean\, Claude Monet would pick up a brush to paint the water's surface\, the swaying flowers\, and the sky and landscape that reflected in it.His water lily paintings that are known across the world were created between 1894 and 1896.Monet portrayed his beloved pond at various seasons of the day and year. He would observe the times of day\, seasons\, sun\, clouds\, rain\, and light for long periods of time\, capturing various atmospheres. There are around 2000 paintings by Monet\, as well as eleven sketchbooks\, 110 drawings\, and 108 pastels.

SUMMARY:"The Kid" Exhibition at Chaplin’s World in Vevey
DESCRIPTION:The Kid: Charlie Chaplin's first blockbuster was released 100 years ago\, and Chaplin's World in Vevey is now dedicating an entire exhibit to it. \n\n\n\nThe silent film is regarded as one of Chaplin's best works. From scriptwriting to directing and acting\, Chaplin’s first feature-length film is still a classic today. The many events surrounding the 100th anniversary are reason enough to return to Vevey this spring. \n\n\n\nIn order to mark this special anniversary\, the museum has created a special exhibition dedicated to The Kid. With children in mind\, the exhibit allows visitors to step into the streets of London during the late 19th century. In addition\, never-before-seen archival footage reveals Chaplin's own upbringing. \n\n\n\nThe Kid. The Exhibition. will be on display through Sept 25\, 2022. \n\n\n\nCopyright Chaplin's World\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA circus show dedicated to The Kid\n\n\n\nFrom April 15 through May 1\, the L'Alchimie Circus School is going to put up their tent right on the premises of Chaplin's World. Their 40-minute program is included in the museum admission ticket. \n\n\n\nGoing with the theme\, their show will be entirely dedicated to The Kid: with a live youth orchestra in the backdrop\, the circus performers will be reenacting key scenes from the movie. Think chases\, acrobatic interludes\, and funny clown interludes in the style of the 1920s. Afterwards in the park\, try out whether you have what it takes to join the circus... \n\n\n\nDaily circus show times are 11 AM\, 2 PM\, and 4 PM. No shows on Tuesdays. \n\n\n\nCopyright Chaplin's World/Marc Ducrest\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChaplin’s World special events on April 16\n\n\n\nThose who visited Chaplin’s World on Saturday\, April 16\, were in for some treats. On Charlie Chaplin’s 133rd birthday\, the museum’s theater held a special screening of The Kid. The filmmaker’s own son\, Eugene Chaplin\, attended the screening and shared a firsthand account of his family’s life in Vevey. \n\n\n\nHere's a key scene from The Kid where the Tramp finds a baby: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWeather permitting\, another special on April 29 will be hot air balloon rides. Taking to the skies from the park in front of the mansion\, this will be a unique opportunity to soak in the spectacular views of Lake Geneva and the French Alps from high above. (10 francs per person.) \n\n\n\nMore information \n\n\n\nCopyright Chaplin's World/Marc Ducrest\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nModern Times Hotel\n\n\n\nDuring our recent visit\, we checked into the four-star Modern Times Hotel. Just a brief drive from Chaplin's World and a two-minute walk from a local train station\, this hotel is ideally located for museum-goers. \n\n\n\nThe interior of the hotel brings the Charlie Chaplin universe to life. There are gimmicks in the lobby\, as well as a restaurant displaying various memorabilia. We particularly liked the breakfast buffet included in the room rate\, as well as the views of Lake Geneva in the distance. \n\n\n\nCopyright Modern Times Hotel

SUMMARY:Turicum Gin Workshop Train (Zürich)
DESCRIPTION:When you step aboard the Roter Pfeil Churchill train\, you might get the feeling that you are entering a James Bond film. \n\n\n\nThe oldest SBB train still in service in Switzerland was built in 1939 for the Swiss National Exhibition. While England's most famous spy may have never taken a ride on the fire engine red train\, its legendary politician Sir Winston Churchill used the train during his 1946 tour of Switzerland. Today\, the one-of-a-kind Red Arrow train is bookable for company events\, weddings\, and other occasions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGetting back to Bond: what's 007's favorite drink? The martini\, shaken\, not stirred\, of course.  \n\n\n\nWhile the shaken-not-stirred preparation has become a classic amongst Martini lovers\, it is the wrong way of preparing a Martini since shaking it can "bruise" the spirits and increase the chance of ice breaking into the drink. The "shaken\, not stirred" expression comes from Sir Ian Flemming trying to show that Bond was uncouth by requesting it. \n\n\n\nEnough about James Bond. Now\, what's the main ingredient of a classic Martini? That's right. It's gin. \n\n\n\nThe juniper-nuanced distillate has been trending for several years\, and the Swiss have had gin-fever for nearly a decade. While new brands pop up like mushrooms\, few have managed to establish themselves as well as Zurich's own Turicum Gin. It's the only distillery within city limits and continually wins awards for the quality of its gin. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEnter the Gin Lab Train Experience\n\n\n\nHaving long had their Gin Lab in the city\, the dynamic team at Turicum has just launched the Gin Lab train with Swiss Railways. What could be a better train than the historic Roter Pfeil Churchill train to hold a gin workshop? \n\n\n\nOn February 12\, 2022\, you are invited to jump onboard and blend your own gin. \n\n\n\nDuring a two-hour roundtrip train journey from Zurich to the Rhine and to Baden\, you will discover the many flavors and scents that get blended into today's gins to make them stand out from the rest. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDo you like your gins more fruity with nuances of strawberry and passion fruit? Or are you into the spicier kinds with notes of oak and ginger? With over 20 different distillates\, you can create a gin that is as singular as you are. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBook your tickets now and learn more about the beautiful Roter Pfeil train and what separates a London Dry Gin from a typical gin - and everything in between. \n\n\n\nAt the end of the voyage\, you will take home a bottle of the gin you have just blended\, Gents Tonic\, and the bar accouterments needed to mix the perfect gin and tonic at home. \n\n\n\nEmbrace your inner James Bond (or Winston Churchill) and jump on the Turicum Gin Workshop train! In the words of Winston Churchill: "Gin and tonic has saved more Englishmen's lives\, and minds\, than all the doctors in the Empire." \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Turicum Gin Workshop at a glance:\n\n\n\nRoundtrip fare on the historic Roter Pfeil train\, including reserved seats and driver's cab visit.Departure from Zürich main station at 3:55 PM\, return at 6:06 PM.Gin creation workshop\, including tasting of different distillates.Complimentary aperitif\, including 2 long drinks\, 1 water\, 1 gin gift case.\n\n\n\nBook a ticket\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChristian LangeneggerBusiness Strategist || Connector || Entrepreneur || Marketer || Writer || Optimist || Runner || Photographer || Epicurean || TEDster

SUMMARY:Switzerland: Amazingly Ambivalent (Exhibit)
DESCRIPTION:Copyright Swiss National Museum\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMany Swiss share a sentiment that their country is a cut above the rest. They might tell you that nature is breathtakingly beautiful\, the streets are sparkling clean\, and the infrastructure is top-notch. \n\n\n\nThis inside-out view does not necessarily match how the world perceives Switzerland. Is it an idyllic paradise\, or a surveillance state where suspicious neighbors check up on each other? Is it a humanitarian country or rather an island ruled by banks and multinationals? \n\n\n\nThe Swiss National Museum in Zürich is dedicating a temporary exhibit to bring us face to face with these bewildering contrasts: Amazingly Ambivalent. By facing these divergent views\, we will get to reflect on our own relationship with Switzerland. And who knows\, we might even uncover what really makes the Swiss tick... \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCopyright Swiss National Museum

SUMMARY:Footloose - The Musical is on the loose in Zürich
DESCRIPTION:Everybody cut loose! Straight from London's West End\, we get to see a new production of Footloose - The Musical. \n\n\n\nThe immensely successful dance film is even more popular as a musical. Audiences near and far can't have enough of the story about a dance-loving teenager. When Ren MacCormack moves from Chicago to a small town\, he suddenly faces a new reality: loud music and public dancing are banned for minors. By way of throwing a giant party\, the protagonist thinks he has found a loophole in the system... It's teenage rebellion to the max! \n\n\n\nWhen Footloose (the film) was released in 1984\, it became an instant blockbuster. For months\, the songs dominated the airwaves and charts. And they are still popular today: "Holding Out for a Hero\," "Almost Paradise\," "Let's Hear It for the Boy." And\, of course\, "Footloose!" \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFootloose - The Musical at MAAG Halle in Zürich\n\n\n\nThe dancers and musical crew of the current production are simply amazing. Each dancer actually plays an instrument\, too\, therefore becoming a part of the band. The hairdos and props add to the atmosphere\, which is a sort of time tunnel into the 1980s. \n\n\n\nCopyright Footloose Musical/Matt Martin\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFootloose - The Musical is entirely held in English\, making it a perfect opportunity to go back to a live event. Please note that all guests require a valid COVID certificate (2G).

SUMMARY:Olympic Winter Games Exhibit - Rêver en blanc
DESCRIPTION:Copyright International Olympic Committee (IOC) - Catherine Leutenegger\, 2021\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRêver en blanc is the latest exhibit at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. It opened just in time for this year's Winter Olympics as well as the 100-year anniversary of the Olympic Winter Games in 2024. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRêver en blanc - Dreaming in white\n\n\n\nThe temporary exhibit covers the Olympic Winter Games past\, present\, and future. It explores themes that will play an increasingly important part in the games. By nature\, the various disciplines depend on wintry conditions. But in the face of climate change\, how can winter games continue to take place in a sustainable way? \n\n\n\nThis exhibit lives from the many video clips and historical sports artifacts. And there are some fun selfie spots\, too... (How about stepping into a pair of vintage skis?) We are especially keen on the poster gallery\, as well as the collection of mascots from past editions. \n\n\n\nCopyright International Olympic Committee (IOC) - Catherine Leutenegger\, 2021\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnd finally\, those of us with a nostalgic streak will appreciate a rare collection of photographs: some 80 archival photos showcase the Olympic Winter Games from 1924 to 1968. \n\n\n\nThe aptly named exhibit is free of charge. SUMMARY:Dolder Lodge meets St. Moritz (Zürich)
DESCRIPTION:Copyright cardboardamerica@gmail.com/The Dolder Grand\n\n\n\nAdlisberg and the peaks of the Engadine have about as much in common as a ski pole and a fondue fork. The former is a hill with pristine views of Zürich\, while the latter is a mountain range with 4k altitudes. \n\n\n\nBut this winter\, the two worlds are coming together at the Dolder Lodge in Zürich. The latest pop-up helmed by Director Heiko Nieder promises Zürich's coolest ski lodge featuring a carefully tuned fine dining menu. \n\n\n\nThe décor of this pop-up restaurant at The Dolder Grand is retro alpine. Think vintage skis\, checkered table settings\, and cozy furs. Or in other words: here at 701 meters above sea\, you can have a similar feeling as in a St. Moritz ski lodge at 3000 meters of altitude! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA fine ski lodge menu to write home about\n\n\n\nHeiko Nieder\, executive chef and newly appointed culinary director\, has created a fine alpine menu for the pop-up ski lodge. Wintery starters include lamb's lettuce with lukewarm egg\, brown butter sauce hollandaise\, and mountain potato. Also\, beef tartare with Belper Knolle. \n\n\n\nAs in any ski lodge\, there are various cheese fondue blends on the menu (two persons minimum). Look out for the "Fondue by Heiko Nieder"\, which comes with potatoes and pickled vegetables. The St. Moritz fusion comes through in main dishes such as pike-perch capuns\, venison ragout\, or glazed veal shank. In keeping with the alpine-inspired menu\, the wine list features only the finest wines from the Bündner Herrschaft region. \n\n\n\nMore information and reservations (open Thursdays through Sundays from 6 PM)

SUMMARY:Gourmet Weeks with S.Pellegrino Sapori Ticino
DESCRIPTION:This autumn is shaping up to be a foodie’s dream. S.Pellegrino Sapori Ticino continues its tradition of inviting Italian top chefs into their kitchens. \n\n\n\nFor the 15th edition of the fine-dining event series\, the organizers have once again selected some of the finest hosts in Ticino. Six of the hotels on the program are luxurious Swiss Deluxe Hotels (and favorites of ours): Hotel Splendide Royal\, Eden Roc Ascona\, Castello del Sole\, Widder Hotel\, Hotel Schweizerhof Bern\, and Lausanne Palace. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhile the event series traditionally focuses on Ticino hotels\, it will jump across the Swiss Alps for its grand finale. The prestigious Gala Dinners are taking place in Zürich\, Bern\, and Lausanne. Reservations for any of the official evenings are open to the public\, so do not hesitate to RSVP below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTicino meets the regions of Italy\n\n\n\nFor nearly seven weeks\, some of the top chefs in Ticino are collaborating with their Italian colleagues. This companionship is what makes S.Pellegrino Sapori Ticino so unique: it allows Michelin-starred chefs from Italy to discover the culinary heritage of Ticino - and vice versa. \n\n\n\nOn the one hand\, Italian chefs from two-starred Michelin kitchens might learn about Ticino specialties such as Valle Maggia Pepper\, or farina bona corn flour from Valle Onsernone. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt the same time\, those same chefs are bringing their finest ingredients and wines from Italy to Ticino. From alpine South Tyrol to the lakes and even Sicily\, the dishes on this year’s menu will show the incredible variety of tastes that Italy offers. \n\n\n\nWine pairings promise to be spot on\, complementing the dishes for a full flavor experience. Italy and Ticino are naturally bordering one another\, so it will be interesting to taste some vintages from Tuscany\, meanwhile imagining the Ticino vineyards we have just visited this year. \n\n\n\nThis year’s edition promises some true culinary masterpieces… Just have a look at some of these mouthwatering recipes! \n\n\n\nCopyright Sapori Ticino Sagl/Facebook\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n Reservation and information \n \n \n To RSVP\, send an email with your dates\, the number of seats\, and your contact information. \n \n \n \n More information
