We count ourselves lucky because for one night in Basel\, we will get to experience a glimpse of hanami\, too! Restaurant Noohn at the "Kirschgarten" tram stop will be hosting a hanami celebration on April 10. The Hori sledge race is the time when you can see this interesting means of transportation being used to be fast - or last! \n \nAnd do not just stand there – rent a sledge yourself and rush down from the nearby Faulhorn to Grindelwald on the longest sledge track in the world (15 km)! \nTake the Postauto bus from Schwarzwaldalp to the top of the race track (last bus leaves at 11:30 AM). DESCRIPTION:There is no better place to get a feel for Switzerland's long history of graphic design than at grafikSCHWEIZ 18. \nThis annual gathering for graphic design\, new media\, games and virtual reality has established itself over the years and we always enjoy going there. With some 130 different national and international artists exhibiting\, it is always a feast for the eyes. From icon design to typography and illustration\, the invited talents will show off their most innovative and relevant body of work. One of the criteria is that works have to have been produced within the prior year. \nIn the past\, we have enjoyed grafikSCHWEIZ for its interactive exhibits such as a drawing wall where visitors were able to express themselves. Oftentimes\, artists are present and eager to answer questions\, adding more depth to this unmissable event. \nHighlights during grafikSCHWEIZ 18\nThis year\, look out for David Boller\, an illustrator who has previously worked for renowned publishers such as Marvel or DC Comics. Along with Michel Fornasier\, he will be unveiling a comic series entitled "Bionicman". \ngrafikSCHWEIZ 18 will be staged at the formerly industrial Halle 622 in Zürich-Oerlikon. DESCRIPTION:These two singer-songwriters are the real deal. Their songs are raw\, beautiful and - I have to admit\, mostly tear-jerkers. They both have the most soothing and gentle voices and an incredible talent for lyrics and for creating magnificent songs. \nOf course\, I am talking about William Fitzsimmons and Joshua Radin.\nIn the past\, I have seen Joshua Radin perform in various constellations: with a full band\, with a guitar player or solo. (Either way\, he never disappoints.) However\, solo performances with just his wonderful voice and his guitar are the best. His vocals are always on point and the songs are so beautifully written and constructed\, they will give you goosebumps. \nWilliam Fitzsimmons has the most comforting and gentle songs\, if you do not pay attention to the lyrics. If you do\, you will literally feel his pain. But even the saddest songs have something so unique and beautiful. He also has quite a dark sense of humor which he will probably be showing off between his songs. \nThese two have been on a tour together earlier this year and sold out many of the venues throughout the United States. You now have the chance to witness two amazing artists at the Kaufleuten in Zürich on October 5\, 2018. DESCRIPTION:A gripping soundtrack can add to the suspense of a thriller. An epic score underlying an establishing shot can create goosebumps. And a romantic tune during a kissing scene will make the audience cry. \nWithout a doubt\, some film music is just as famous as the movie it is a part of. Think "Mission: Impossible" or "Kill Bill". The Zurich Film Festival is paying tribute to movie soundtracks as part of the 7th International Film Music Competition. \nThe evening's program includes live performance of the five winning submissions into the competition. Their task was to create an original score for a four minute short called HAPPINESS: \n \n\n  \nComposers from as near as Belgium and France or as far as Canada have been nominated by a panel of judges. The winner will be chosen by a jury and awarded the Golden Eye for "Best International Film Music"\, valued at 10'000 francs. \nAs an added bonus\, two soundtracks by former Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Cliff Martinez will be performed. As a film composer\, Martinez is also presiding the evening's jury.
