SUMMARY:Jungkunst Art Exhibit (Winterthur)
DESCRIPTION:For their 10th anniversary\, the Jungkunst art event has commissioned no less than 25 young artists. From sculptors to street art\, this four-day event covers a wide range of artistic expression. \nI am particularly excited about the Container Museum\, an art gallery inside shipping containers. (Freitag brothers\, are you taking note?) I find it exceptional that this established art event features only original pieces. While it is a platform for young artists to be discovered\, it is just as much an opportunity for the public to purchase original art.\n  \nLinda Bernhard at Jungkunst\nAmong the more than two dozen artists is Linda Bernhard\, a life-long friend of mine. The Swiss collage artist is based in the UK\, so I have only been able to see her creations online - until now. Linda's nostalgic creations take us back to times when Photoshop was a store selling photo equipment. Her collages are the product of pure handicraft\, thus standing out in today's digital world. \n \nJungkunst is held at the former industrial halls of Sulzer in Winterthur\, and the organizers have more than a few highlights in store... DESCRIPTION:Kunstmuseum Winterthur is presenting a solo exhibition of the British sculptor Richard Deacon through November 15\, 2015. \nRichard Deacon’s sculptures are created from a variety of materials\, including wood\, metal\, and ceramics\, in organic and created shapes. His sculptures range from the monumental to the miniature\, and are visibly striking. The pieces included in the exhibit have been created over the last decade and show how Deacon has deviated from the usual laws of sculpture. \n \nBorn in Bangor\, Caernarvonshire\, Wales in 1949\, Richard Deacon attended the Somerset College of Art\, Taunton\, Saint Martin’s School of Art\, London\, and the Royal College of Art in London. DESCRIPTION:On the last weekend in July\, a colorful crowd of visitors and locals will take a seat at a 400 meter long wooden table in the pedestrian area of St. Moritz. \nLa Tavolata emerged from the idea of uniting the entire village of St. Moritz at one big table. Word spread like wildfire and in the first year\, more than 5000 visitors showed up - instead of the projected 2000! Last year\, the event reached another milestone by entertaining some 8000 visitors during one weekend. \n \nNow in its fifth year\, this typical Engadine food and music festival has not lost its charm. The weekend takes off on Saturday at noon with a Tavolata Street BBQ. Imagine a giant BBQ grill in the middle of town... \nThe classic Tavolata experience takes place on Sunday. It features dishes prepared by award-winning chefs from local St. Moritz hotels and restaurants\, including Badrutt's Palace and Kulm Hotel St. Moritz. Music plays an equally important role at the festival\, so expect bands and street musicians from all over Europe! \nIn the true spirit of a non-profit\, La Tavolata has remained independent. DESCRIPTION:The third annual Festival de Mai boasts three evenings of exceptional chamber music at three unique venues in the canton of Neuchâtel. Throughout the festival\, a special exhibition of his works will be held at the Galerie Lange + Pult in the picturesque village of Auvernier. \n  \nFestival de Mai 2015 Line-up\nWednesday\, May 27 - Mr. Sikorki's short animations will be screened in between works performed during a recital given by internationally-acclaimed Szymanowski Quartet at the Neuchâtel campus of the Haute École de Musique de Genève. \nThursday\, May 28 - The salon de musique of Isabelle de Charrière in Colombier will host two separate concerts on the same evening: first\, a recital of songs by various composers to poems by Heinrich Heine\, and then a piano trio recital of Haydn and Schubert. \nFriday\, May 29 – For the finissage\, Galerie Lange + Pult will feature Mr. Sikorski's multimedia installations and a cello performance by Alexander Neustroev of the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich. \nFollowing each concert\, Festival de Mai will host a reception with local wines from Burgat Caves and refreshments from Walder Confiseur-Chocolatier. \n  \nMore Information\n- Admissions: CHF 38 (adults)\, CHF 28 (AVS/students). It is due to pioneering work in the 1960's that the international success of Swiss graphic design has been established. \nJoseph Müller-Brockmann\, Karl Gerstner and Armin Hofmann created a reduced design developed under the name "Swiss Style"\, making it a landmark movement which still influences graphic design to this day. \nFurthermore\, European graphic designers such as Wim Crouwel and Massimo Vignelli established minimalist aesthetic worldwide. \nThe latest exhibition at Museum für Gestaltung (Schaudepot) in Zürich highlights the successful distribution of the Swiss Style. She is joined by Inga Kjartansdottir\, an Icelandic painter/illustrator who has lived here for two years. \nThe "face to FACE" exhibit is a colorful pictorial presentation of people's faces from around the world.
