DESCRIPTION:There is no better place to get a feel for Switzerland's long history of graphic design than at grafikSCHWEIZ 18. \nThis annual gathering for graphic design\, new media\, games and virtual reality has established itself over the years and we always enjoy going there. With some 130 different national and international artists exhibiting\, it is always a feast for the eyes. From icon design to typography and illustration\, the invited talents will show off their most innovative and relevant body of work. One of the criteria is that works have to have been produced within the prior year. \nIn the past\, we have enjoyed grafikSCHWEIZ for its interactive exhibits such as a drawing wall where visitors were able to express themselves. Oftentimes\, artists are present and eager to answer questions\, adding more depth to this unmissable event. \nHighlights during grafikSCHWEIZ 18\nThis year\, look out for David Boller\, an illustrator who has previously worked for renowned publishers such as Marvel or DC Comics. Along with Michel Fornasier\, he will be unveiling a comic series entitled "Bionicman". \ngrafikSCHWEIZ 18 will be staged at the formerly industrial Halle 622 in Zürich-Oerlikon. The understanding that it's all about the emotional state of a passenger lets you cover a much bigger world than just designing soft seats. My aim was to convert the business class into a feel-at-home class." \nApart from an inflight entertainment system boasting more than 1000 hours of Blockbusters\, documentaries and TV series screened on 17 inch displays\, gourmands will be in for a treat\, too. They both have the most soothing and gentle voices and an incredible talent for lyrics and for creating magnificent songs. \nOf course\, I am talking about William Fitzsimmons and Joshua Radin.\nIn the past\, I have seen Joshua Radin perform in various constellations: with a full band\, with a guitar player or solo. (Either way\, he never disappoints.) However\, solo performances with just his wonderful voice and his guitar are the best. His vocals are always on point and the songs are so beautifully written and constructed\, they will give you goosebumps. \nWilliam Fitzsimmons has the most comforting and gentle songs\, if you do not pay attention to the lyrics. If you do\, you will literally feel his pain. But even the saddest songs have something so unique and beautiful. He also has quite a dark sense of humor which he will probably be showing off between his songs. \nThese two have been on a tour together earlier this year and sold out many of the venues throughout the United States. You now have the chance to witness two amazing artists at the Kaufleuten in Zürich on October 5\, 2018. I wonder how many Pokémons will make their way to the festival... \nThe KUSPO can easily be reached by public transportation: Simply take tram 10 or the S3 train to the Hofmatt stop.

DESCRIPTION:Memories of our previous stay at the Cresta Palace Hotel in Celerina include a breakfast buffet to write home about and a premium dining experience. \nWe were excited to find out that Head Chef Rolf J. Schmitz has come up with a unique concept: during two nights this September\, he and his team will be offering regional delicacies from the Engadine along with fresh Burgundy truffles and award winning Japanese miyazaki beef. What a great reason to return to Celerina! \n"Japan meets the Engadine" is for all the foodies out there.\nMost of you might not need an introduction to miyazaki-gyu\, a type of wagyu beef from the southern island of Kyushu. You likely already know that it is top of the line when it comes to Japanese meat. I have never actually tasted it and am more than curious to find out how Chef Schmitz is going to prepare it. The menu gives some clues already: crostini with wagyu lard and truffle\, as well as wagyu filet. \n \nBut apart from the meats\, the seven course meal includes other Japanese flavors\, too: there will be a serving of sushi rolls and nigiri sushi\, fish soup\, or a tangy yuzu sorbet topped with Japanese pepper. The second part of this dining experience will focus more on regional delicacies such as Swiss cheese or apricot tarts. \nFinally\, another exciting twist is the sake pairing: Marc Nydegger\, the owner of the shizuku shop in Zürich\, is a sake expert who will be pairing each course with the perfect Japanese sake. He has been on our radar for a while because we would love to learn more about his unique story. DESCRIPTION:The English stand-up show is an event which occurs four or five times a year. It features mainly local comedians - Swiss and expats. And it is the best place to laugh at the ups and downs of living in Switzerland! \nFrom my experience of hanging out at the English stand-up show\, the humor is highly relatable and witty. But beware whoever sits in the first row... For this edition\, the guest headliner is Jessica Michelle Singleton. She is great\, if you do not know her\, you better check her out!  \nThe tickets tend to get sold out quite fast\, so do not hesitate to get yours soon. (25 francs regular price\, 10 francs for students.) I actually went to this show last May and absolutely loved it. It even inspired me to try doing stand-up comedy myself... \nDoors open at 7 PM\, so why not have an adult beverage at the bar beforehand? The show starts at 8 PM.
