DESCRIPTION:From pop-up nibbles to a market for gourmands: the Soul Food Festival in Baden promises to please the foodies of the world. \nThis year's theme is healthy eating which nourishes the mind and body. The festival is spread throughout Baden\, taking place in five locations: during the entire festival\, find a pop-up restaurant at Bahnhofplatz just as you get off the train. Also\, Badener Gastronomie is taking place in the town's bars and restaurants throughout the entire five days. \nFrom Friday through Sunday\, there will be a street food market on Trafoplatz. And on the weekend of August 25 and 26\, there will be an additional gourmet market on Badstrasse. If you are planning to bring the kids\, Saturday will be your best bet as the scouts will be cooking over the open fire. \nSo\, there you have it! Take a look at the festival website and think about your cravings\, then choose which date to go. SUMMARY:Animation galore at the Fantoche Film Festival in Baden
DESCRIPTION:The Fantoche Film Festival has long established itself among film lovers in Switzerland. Every year\, a great lineup of animation films from around the world will be shown to a lucky audience who can grab a ticket. \nThe international competition at Fantoche\nAt the core of the festival is its international competition. There is also a Swiss competition and one dedicated to children's movies. \nIn total\, Fantoche will be featuring 81 films - some of which will be shown in the presence of directors\, producers or studio staff. If you get lucky\, you might even be able to see a "making of" about your favorite film! SUMMARY:Badenfahrt is literally the festival of a decade (Baden)
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, Winterthur has the Albanifest. Every three years\, Zürich has the (thus making it more exclusive). And every ten years\, Baden has Badenfahrt. \nAnd guess what? This year is one of those years! The name “Badenfahrt” derives from the 19th century term for a trip to the baths in Baden. It used to symbolize more than just physical relaxation\, but also the rejuvenation of the spirit and mind. \n(Photograph copyright baden.ch) \nThe theme of this decade’s ten-day festival is VERSUS.\nThe idea allows for all the volunteers\, clubs and businesses involved to create an event full of juxtapositions. Be it the noisy construction sites of the city and the tranquil areas along the Limmat or the interweaving of old and new architecture. As every decade\, expect lots of attractions\, a carnival\, food stands and music. \nIf you have ever visited Henrici’s Café in Zürich’s Niederdorf\, you will also be familiar with artist Maja Hürst who won the poster design competition with her TIKA style: \n \nThis year’s Badenfahrt takes place from August 18 to 27\, and it is not to be missed. DESCRIPTION:At last count\, there were 732'000 Swiss living abroad. For some\, attending the Congress of the Swiss abroad is part of their annual home-coming. For others\, it is the single most important event of the year to connect to others\, so they will make the trip from wherever their domicile might be. \nAlready in the 92nd year\, the 2014 Congress for the Swiss Abroad will be taking place in Baden. The focus is going to be on information technology and social media. How is electronic voting going to change the lives of Swiss abroad? And how are social networks like SwissCommunity.org going to strengthen ties among the so-called 5th Switzerland? \nThese are just some of the questions that keynote speakers from academics and politics will be highlighting. Challenges and opportunities of technological advances will be discussed more in-depth in smaller workshops as well.
