SUMMARY:Tulip Festival in Morges: Switzerland's Premier Spring Event
DESCRIPTION:Every spring\, Morges hosts Switzerland's largest flower festival at the beautiful Parc de l'Indépendance on the shores of Lake Geneva\, transforming the landscape into a breathtaking tapestry of colors. \n\n\n\nWhat a colorful bliss! This festival is free to the public\, which is why it is eagerly awaited by thousands of visitors from Switzerland and around the world. The 2026 edition promises to be exceptional\, featuring over 140\,000 flowers including nearly 350 varieties of tulips under the theme of "Tales and Legends." \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA Rich History of Floral Celebration\n\n\n\nFounded in 1971\, the Morges Tulip Festival (Fête de la Tulipe) has grown to become Switzerland's largest flower festival\, attracting nearly 300\,000 visitors annually. SUMMARY:"The Great Dictator" Exhibit at Chaplin's World in Vevey
DESCRIPTION:For its interactive museum and large collection\, Chaplin's World is a destination in its own right. Through the end of August\, the museum is dedicating a special exhibit to "The Great Dictator." \nAptly named "Chaplin and the Great Dictator: The Story of a Little Fish in an Ocean Full of Sharks\," this special exhibition explores some interesting questions: What did Charlie Chaplin do to prepare for his impersonation of Adolf Hitler's facial expressions and gestures? What about the parody names used in the movie? And what was Chaplin's later reaction to the revelation about the atrocities the Nazis had committed? \nAfter the exposure of the Nazi crimes\, what was Chaplin's reaction to his own film? The exhibit\, which is in German\, French\, and English\, takes visitors on a journey. It sets off by giving an overview of the movie. Previously unpublished photographs from assistant director Dan James showcase daily life on the film set. The images also reveal previously unpublished scenes and video tricks from Chaplin's first feature with sound. \nChaplin's World is open daily. Face masks are mandatory for all visitors\, and we recommend buying an admission ticket online for special savings.

SUMMARY:Visit Santa Claus at Rochers de Naye! (Montreux Noël)
DESCRIPTION:High above Lake Geneva is the peak of Rochers de Naye\, a destination reachable by cogwheel train from Montreux. \nThis Winter Wonderland is not only a favorite among those looking for a refreshing getaway\, but also among a bearded man and his helpers: Santa Claus! That's right: in his hut (which is conveniently accessible from the railway station)\, the old man welcomes children of all ages during the holidays. \nA photograph with Santa Claus at Rochers de Naye\nBeyond the magic tunnel with its flashing lights\, there is a small stage for the meet-and-greet and the picture taking. As we found out on our recent trip\, Santa Claus speaks many different languages - from Russian to Japanese\, English and French. There is an official photographer\, but anyone is allowed to take their own pictures at no charge. \n \nDuring Montreux Noël\, Santa Claus can be visited Wednesdays through Sundays\, as well as on Monday\, Dec 23\, and Tuesday\, Dec 24\, 2019.\n \nBut Rochers de Naye offers plenty of activities and things to see during any day of the festive season. The kids can gather stamps on a scavenger hunt and they can even peek into Santa's bedroom. Meanwhile\, the scenic panorama at 2042 meters above sea invites for memorable selfies. \nRestaurant Le Coucou in Caux\nOn our way back to Montreux Noël\, we hopped off the cogwheel train in Caux above Mntreux. Just footsteps from the station is Restaurant Le Coucou\, a charming chalet serving local favorites. Try the cheese platter for some unique local fromage: \n\n  \nMore information about Santa Claus at Rochers de Naye\nA part of Montreux Noël\, Santa's House at Rochers de Naye offers a perfect excursion for families. Check the website of MOB GoldenPass for various special offers combining the return trip and visit of Santa's House. Reservations are required as seats are limited. \nThe train to Rochers de Naye leaves from Montreux hourly starting from 9:17 AM to 3:17 PM. \nMore information about Montreux Noël\, and here is a post about our previous visit.

SUMMARY:Paléo Festival 2019 in Nyon
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that the Paléo Festival is one of the biggest open-air festivals in Switzerland? \nIt all started back in 1976 near the city of Nyon. Every year around mid July\, the festival grounds are abuzz for six straight days and nights... In fact\, the Paléo Festival has gained so much attraction\, tickets have been selling out extremely fast since about the year 2000. \nWhat to expect at the Paléo Festival in Nyon?\nWith more than six stages and around 280 concerts\, the Paléo is an unmissable event! People come from all over just to see their favorite artists and experience one of the best weeks of the year. This music festival is all about diversity. Trust me: with its different styles of music and the vast amount of food stalls from around the world\, you will not get bored. \nOne of the concepts that makes Paléo so unique is "Le Village du Monde" - the world's village. There\, a different region of the world is exposed every year. In 2019\, Paléo will have Quebec as their theme. And as for the concerts this year\, make sure to look out for big stars such as Twenty One Pilots\, Lana Del Rey\, The Cure and Shaka Ponk. Also\, Lomepal and Soprano. \nAs you can tell\, there will be music to satisfy anyone's taste. You can start purchasing tickets online starting April 3 at noon. Make sure to be quick since they tend to sell out very fast! You can either choose between a single ticket or a weekly pass. \nMy advice: If all the tickets are unfortunately sold out\, no worries: Paléo puts a certain amount of tickets up for sale every morning for that particular day before the festival begins.

DESCRIPTION:No one said snow ball fights were just for kids. \nAt the Yukigassen snow ball fights\, they make it pretty serious: Several teams of seven people will compete against each other in a special snow ball fight arena at the Sports Centre in Villars. \nThe name Yukigassen is Japanese and stands for "snow battle". It is an official sport in Japan\, as well as in Norway\, Canada\, Australia and other parts of the world. It is about time we made more use of our snow supplies in winter...
