SUMMARY:Winterthurer Musikfestwochen 2021 offers (free) concerts
DESCRIPTION:Winterthurer Musikfestwochen is back in action this year. So\, dust off your neglected fedoras\, get vaccinated\, and enjoy some sweet\, sweet live music this summer - lord knows it's been too long! \nDue to the ongoing pandemic\, the festival will look a little bit different this year\, foregoing the frenetic energy of the sardine-packed Steinbergasse stage for more spacious\, COVID-friendly venues scattered throughout the city. \n  \nThree new locations for Winterthurer Musikfestwochen\nThis year's new venues throughout Winterthur are Rychenbergpark\, Büelpark\, and Viehmarkt. At Rychenbergpark\, you will find free concerts on nine days while admission is required only from August 20 to 22. \nBüelpark will be host to literary readings\, theater performances\, and the Band-It! competition for newcomers. And finally\, Viehmarkt will be the home of small artists\, the Theater Café Roulotte\, and of course: lots of music! \nThe line-up includes Brandão Faber Hunger\, Hermanos Gutiérrez\, Faber\, Kit Sebastian\, KUMMER\, and Majan. Tickets are available at Starticket. And all updates and information can be found online.\n \nSee you there!\n

SUMMARY:Winterthurer Musikfestwochen 2017
DESCRIPTION:The 42nd annual Winterthur Musikfestwochen offers a spectacular line-up sure to please the indie/alternative crowd. \nCanadian singer-songwriter Feist\, formerly of Broken Social Scene\, will be headlining the festival on the August 19 with songs off her forthcoming record. \nThe current darling of Australian indie\, Tash Sultana\, will be gracing the stage on August 13. Her eclectic and electrifying one-woman-show may just make her Switzerland’s newest obsession. \nTake it from me\, mates\, this is one show you do not want to miss!\nOther acts in this summer's line-up include folk-rockers Band of Horses (US)\, indie-pop musicians Her (FR)\, punk-rockers Kraftklub (DE)\, electronic duo Weval (NL)\, plus many more acts from Switzerland and abroad. Twelve days\, four stages and 70 acts - and did we mention that most concerts are free? \nMore information about Winterthurer Musikfestwochen

SUMMARY:Jungkunst Art Exhibit (Winterthur)
DESCRIPTION:For their 10th anniversary\, the Jungkunst art event has commissioned no less than 25 young artists. From sculptors to street art\, this four-day event covers a wide range of artistic expression. \nI am particularly excited about the Container Museum\, an art gallery inside shipping containers. (Freitag brothers\, are you taking note?) I find it exceptional that this established art event features only original pieces. While it is a platform for young artists to be discovered\, it is just as much an opportunity for the public to purchase original art.\n  \nLinda Bernhard at Jungkunst\nAmong the more than two dozen artists is Linda Bernhard\, a life-long friend of mine. The Swiss collage artist is based in the UK\, so I have only been able to see her creations online - until now. Linda's nostalgic creations take us back to times when Photoshop was a store selling photo equipment. Her collages are the product of pure handicraft\, thus standing out in today's digital world. \n \nJungkunst is held at the former industrial halls of Sulzer in Winterthur\, and the organizers have more than a few highlights in store... Did I mention live music and slam poetry? \n(Photographs copyright by zVg Jungkunst - Michael Haug\, Winterthur and Linda Bernhard)

SUMMARY:Richard Deacon – On The Other Side (Winterthur)
DESCRIPTION:Kunstmuseum Winterthur is presenting a solo exhibition of the British sculptor Richard Deacon through November 15\, 2015. \nRichard Deacon’s sculptures are created from a variety of materials\, including wood\, metal\, and ceramics\, in organic and created shapes. His sculptures range from the monumental to the miniature\, and are visibly striking. The pieces included in the exhibit have been created over the last decade and show how Deacon has deviated from the usual laws of sculpture. \n \nBorn in Bangor\, Caernarvonshire\, Wales in 1949\, Richard Deacon attended the Somerset College of Art\, Taunton\, Saint Martin’s School of Art\, London\, and the Royal College of Art in London. He lives and works in London\, and is the recipient of the 1987 Turner Prize. \nMore information \n(Photographs copyright by Kunstmuseum Winterthur)
