DESCRIPTION:At last count\, there were 732’000 Swiss living abroad. For some\, attending the Congress of the Swiss abroad is part of their annual home-coming. For others\, it is the single most important event of the year to connect to others\, so they will make the trip from wherever their domicile might be. \nAlready in the 92nd year\, the 2014 Congress for the Swiss Abroad will be taking place in Baden. The focus is going to be on information technology and social media. How is electronic voting going to change the lives of Swiss abroad? And how are social networks like SwissCommunity.org going to strengthen ties among the so-called 5th Switzerland? \nThese are just some of the questions that keynote speakers from academics and politics will be highlighting. Challenges and opportunities of technological advances will be discussed more in-depth in smaller workshops as well. And of course\, the social events will give anyone the opportunity to exchange tips and reconnect with old friends! \nHere are yours truly at the 2013 congress with Swiss Federal Counselor Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf: \nFinally\, as every year\, there will be an excursion!
