SUMMARY:Concert for Hospice du Grand St. Bernard (Zürich)
DESCRIPTION:You are all warmly welcomed to Zürich’s Schloss Sihlberg to enjoy a concert given by Laura Anne Ayres (soprano) and Iryna Krasnovska (pianist). \nThis free concert will benefit the campaign to raise funds for the Hospice du Grand St. Bernard. It will feature a brief gathering time with a complementary glass of wine (18.00-18.30) and then a few remarks by José Mittaz\, Canon of GSB\, regarding the history of the Hospice and the Grand St. Bernard legacy (18.30-18.45). \nAbout the Hospice du Grand-St-Bernard\nThe Hospice was founded in 1050 by Bernard\, the Archdeacon of Aosta\, to rescue travelers attempting to cross the treacherous Alps (the legendary St. Bernard dogs aided this effort). The men and women serving at the Hospice offer asylum\, sanctuary\, and guidance asking nothing in return. Many have been welcomed by smiles\, help\, and a warm bowl of tea after the hike up the Col du St. Bernard. Now? The Hospice is in need of our help. \nIn the words of Father Mittaz: The Hospice du Grand-St-Bernard is currently in need of major repair over the next three years. These works range from spiritual projects\, such as the maintenance of the historical artifacts\, to very concrete things like the supply of electricity. For example\, the cable connecting the Grand St. Bernard to the Hospice in 1962\, the year of construction of the tunnel\, no longer meets acceptable standards. Replacement of this cable alone amounts to CHF 500’000! \nThis is a free concert lasting about 45 minutes. \nPlease join us to hear more about this crucial Swiss landmark that expresses everything wonderful about this country: Generosity\, kindness\, and charity.
