The lotus-shaped canvas tents are back on Alp Nagens, an alpine meadow in Eastern Switzerland located at 2000 meters above sea level. Reachable by cable car from Laax, the units of TCS Pop-Up Glamping are ready to be booked through mid-September.
The setting on Alp Nagens is (quite literally) stellar: on clear nights, you will be gazing at the Milky Way above! And once the sun comes up, the mountain panorama of Grisons will unfold in front of your eyes. (The location is ideal for sunrise lovers given its unobstructed views of the eastern horizon.)
Glamping in Switzerland done right
The TCS pop-up glamping village offers 20 Lotus Belle tents of roughly 20 square meters each. Each of the cotton tents comes with comfortable furniture and all the equipment you will need to spend a memorable night in the Swiss Alps.
The latest addition to the glamping village also happens to be the ultimate dream for those into luxury camping. The exquisite 65-square-meter Mahal tent suites each come with a double bed, a dining area, lounge chairs, a private deck, and even a refrigerator!
High up on this alpine pasture, it is good to know that all tents are mounted on a sturdy timber foundation. That way, there is no chance of lifting off if the Alp Nagens winds pick up in the middle of the night.
What's included in this glamping experience
The welcome apéro is the perfect occasion to chat with fellow glampers. The communal tent has ample seating inside and out. And there is even a selection of board games and cards. The smell of the fire where sausages, "snake bread", and mashmallows are roasting conjures up the feelings and memories of camping during childhood.
The tents are spacious, and each one has a wooden deck. Along with a waterproof, fully waxed canvas door, the entry to our tent has a mosquito net. Fresh air and light are still allowed inside - minus the insects.
Inside each Lotus Belle tent, there are two beds, a couch and chair, a coffee maker, lamps, a heater, a WiFi network, and power outlets. Because with all those Instagramable spots around, you will surely need to recharge your smartphone at one point...
In addition, each of the onion-shaped cotton tents has an ecological Kompotoi toilet. These Swiss-made outhouses offer privacy and comfort, meanwhile neutralizing any odors thanks to the use of sawdust.
Included in the nightly rate is a three-course dinner at Restaurant Stalla, as well as a breakfast box delivered directly to the tent each morning.
How much does it cost to stay at the TCS glamping village?
One night for two people in the TCS Pop-Up Glamping village starts at 200 francs, which includes half board and a welcome apéro. TCS members enjoy a 10 percent discount. And please note that during weekends (Friday - Sunday) and on certain dates, the minimum stay is two nights.

The interesting backstory of the TCS glamping concept
Chances are that you went camping with family or friends in your childhood at a campsite run by TCS (Touring Club Switzerland). The Swiss version of the American Automobile Association (AAA) offers various services to its members: from driver assistance training to insurance, as well as the promotion of touristic offers.
Camping is one way of fulfilling that directive. For more than 50 years, they have built and managed campgrounds in Switzerland. Still today, TCS hosts some 600’000 lodgers every year. Out of the realisation that Instagram is changing tourists' demands and expectations, the TCS Pop-Up Glamping village was born.

Canton Grison where Laax is located happens to be a perfect playground for hikers, bikers, and swimmers looking for micro-adventures. The starting elevation makes it easy to start on a day trip right from the pop-up tent.
Step into the UNESCO World Heritage site Sardona
A short hike from the glamping site, a vast plateau serves as the entrance to the UNESCO World Heritage site Sardona. As you continue towards the waterfall, pay attention to the peaks in front of you. The Tschingelhörner chain offers an amazing look into the past, with the layered rock showcasing how the alps were formed.
Hike the Flims water trail
You could hike from Laax to the glamping site by following the marks for the Flims water trail. Or if you prefer to descend after checking out, follow the creek and cross seven unique bridges along the way.
Visit the world’s longest treetop walkway in Laax
This summer, Laax has unveiled its latest attraction: a 1.5k canopy walk leading from treetop to treetop. The Senda dil Dragun treetop walkway promises to be educational and fun. There are several platforms and even a very long slide for the kids. Always at eye level with local trees, such as fir, this canopy walk is the perfect experience for glampers.
