SUMMARY:Badenfahrt is literally the festival of a decade (Baden)
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, Winterthur has the Albanifest. Every three years\, Zürich has the (thus making it more exclusive). And every ten years\, Baden has Badenfahrt. \nAnd guess what? This year is one of those years! The name “Badenfahrt” derives from the 19th century term for a trip to the baths in Baden. It used to symbolize more than just physical relaxation\, but also the rejuvenation of the spirit and mind. \n(Photograph copyright baden.ch) \nThe theme of this decade’s ten-day festival is VERSUS.\nThe idea allows for all the volunteers\, clubs and businesses involved to create an event full of juxtapositions. Be it the noisy construction sites of the city and the tranquil areas along the Limmat or the interweaving of old and new architecture. As every decade\, expect lots of attractions\, a carnival\, food stands and music. \nIf you have ever visited Henrici’s Café in Zürich’s Niederdorf\, you will also be familiar with artist Maja Hürst who won the poster design competition with her TIKA style: \n \nThis year’s Badenfahrt takes place from August 18 to 27\, and it is not to be missed.
