DESCRIPTION:When it comes to the once-a-year visitor with the red hat and the bag of gifts\, the Swiss have various names: Père Noël in the French speaking part\, Samichlaus in the German speaking part\, and Babbo Natale in Ticino. \nAnd for all the English speakers out there: Santa Claus. The city of Bern is jumping on the internationally recognized name as they launch the Santarun. \nWhile beating your own running record may be the reason to attend one of Switzerland’s runs throughout the year\, the Santarun in December is all about fun. Beginning on the Bundesplatz in front of the parliament building\, the 2.6 km track crosses the historic old town where runners will be treated with mulled wine. (You will be completing this track twice for a total of 5.2 km.) \nAt the registration desk on site\, you will be able to pick one of these Santa outfits when you sign up. \nRegister online by Nov 15

As part of the 7th annual Rendez-vous Bundesplatz\, stories will be told in ways that you have never seen… Every night at 7 PM and 8:30 PM\, this 25 minute light show will mesmerize visitors to the Bundesplatz square. (There are additional performances Thursdays\, Fridays and Saturdays at 9:30 PM.) \nThose who understand the significance of the Reformation will get to better enjoy all the references in the show. Because in order to celebrate the 500 year anniversary properly\, the top three leading figures of the Reformation will be greeting you: Luther\, Zwingli and Calvin.
