DESCRIPTION:When it comes to graphic design\, the Swiss have gone famous on an international level. \nPartly to blame for it are a number of important Swiss graphic designers and typographers that reached a peak in their careers at the time they were living in Paris. Their modern education and know-how\, combined with the exciting work environment of the French capital\, resulted in innovative works that still reflect on the graphic design scene nowadays. \nLes Suisses de Paris showcases works of 22 Swiss designers – expats in Paris – in such areas as photography\, film\, advertising graphics\, corporate design\, typography\, type design and others. \n \nThere are public guided tours in German on Jan 11 and 25\, as well as on Feb 1\, 15 and 22. (Included in the museum admission\, no advance registration required.)

DESCRIPTION:Simple graphic design seems to be the trend these days. \nSince we are surrounded by visual opulence\, very simple layouts seem downright spectacular to our eyes. It is due to pioneering work in the 1960’s that the international success of Swiss graphic design has been established. \nJoseph Müller-Brockmann\, Karl Gerstner and Armin Hofmann created a reduced design developed under the name “Swiss Style”\, making it a landmark movement which still influences graphic design to this day. \nFurthermore\, European graphic designers such as Wim Crouwel and Massimo Vignelli established minimalist aesthetic worldwide. \nThe latest exhibition at Museum für Gestaltung (Schaudepot) in Zürich highlights the successful distribution of the Swiss Style.
