SUMMARY:TEDxLausanne
DESCRIPTION:TEDxLausanne presents ideas worth sharing. This year\, several orators will take the stage at the UNIL’s Amphimax to offer thought-provoking insights and inspiring viewpoints. \nFocusing on the theme Interface/Interact\, the TEDxTalks aim to expand our horizons by exposing us to new perspectives – all within no more than 18 minutes each. \n  \nAbout the Theme\nMore and more\, the objects that best represent daily life are the objects that connect us to someone\, something or someplace. Through traveling\, computers\, networks\, and smart devices we are more connected than ever… But are we really? \nAs information and knowledge become increasingly and freely accessible how are we bridging the gaps that create conflicts\, poverty and pollution? What\, how\, and to whom are we really communicating and what do we gain and lose when we exchange? \nThere is always something to learn from another point of view and with the theme Interface/Interact\, TEDxLausanne’s fifth edition\, in partnership with UNIL\, aims to enlighten our knowledge of the connected world. \n  \nThe TEDxLausanne Talks\nFollowing the popular model of TED\, TEDxLausanne 2015 will present several “Talks” from noteworthy and carefully selected speakers. Working with coaches\, each speaker has specially prepared for the event and will give a theatrical style presentation intended to resonate. Evoking their own passions and touching on subjects close to their hearts\, a few of the key speakers for TEDxLausanne 2015 include Michelle Blanchet\, Ailin Conant and Dan Acher. \n  \nMichelle Blanchet\nMichelle Blanchet is an educator and social entrepreneur. She recently founded the Social Innovation Institute for Educators (SIIE)\, which aims to revolutionize teacher trainings and support educational innovation. Michelle believes teachers have the power to transform education\, if we only give them the chance. At TEDxLausanne\, Michelle will explore how we can empower visionary educators to bring schools into the 21st century. \n  \nAilin Conant\nAilin Conant is the artistic director of Theatre Témoin\, a company dedicated to international collaborations in the creation of new works of socially engaged physical theatre. In 2012 she worked with a group of former child combatants to stage “Hozwa Mwana w’u Rwanda\,” a fairy tale scripted by young men at a Child Rehabilitation Centre in Rwanda. By showcasing this production\, Ailin will show how theatre can serve as a tool for processing shared memory and mediating communication in post-conflict zones. \n  \nDan Acher\nDan Acher is an artivist from Geneva whose work focuses on creating happy cities by changing the way people engage both with their environment and with each other. \nHe transforms movie nights into participative experiences by gathering large crowds in moonlit parks and he shakes up routines by placing outdoor pop-up dance floors along commuter routes to generate impromptu tangos and disco moves. \nAt TEDxLausanne\, Dan will show how cities may rethink streets and public squares to create happier and healthier human environments. \n  \nRegistration is now open\nMake sure you apply now to be among the 450 participants who are ready and willing to share their ideas and engage with the TEDxLausanne community.
