Bellinzona Autumn Festival & Cheese Market

Oct 14, 2023 - Oct 15, 2023

The Bellinzona Autumn Festival & Cheese Market is a two-day happening in the heart of Bellinzona.

This is a well-deserved celebration of cheese and wine: the farmers have tirelessly worked the alpine pastures and vineyards all summer. Now that most Ticino meadows have been cleared of farm animals, the cheesemakers of Bellinzona and Mesolcinaer will present their best varieties.

Cheese and Wines from Ticino

Truly, if you're a cheese lover, the traditional Bellinzona Cheese Market is the place to be. The meandering alleys of the old town converge on the historic Piazza Governo square, so we recommend just getting lost and wandering aimlessly.

You'll be spoiled for choice with various cow and goat cheese varieties, such as Formagella!

And let's not forget about the Ticino wines. Some of the region's top wine producers will be there, showcasing their delicious creations. If you purchase an Assaggi Vini tasting card, you will get a decorative cup from a local artist to sample the wines. Talk about a classy experience!

But it's not just about cheese and wine. The Bellinzona Autumn Festival also has something for those with a sweet tooth. Stands offer delectable pastries and chocolate treats made by talented Tessin artisans. And if you're a bread enthusiast, you're in luck, too.

You can taste and admire a variety of breads in their unique forms. It's a carb lover's dream come true!

Of course, it wouldn't be an autumn festival without some seasonal goodies. Among the 60 stands at Piazza Governo, you will surely find local honey and various chestnut products.

Look out for the contest for the best alpine cheese and bread. A panel of experts will have the tough job of choosing the winners.

But wait, there's more! The festival isn't just about food and drinks. There's plenty of entertainment for everyone. Kids can have a blast in the amusement park with bouncy castles and face painting. And for the little ones, there are theater performances.
