Do you know this feeling when the bright sun hits you after stepping off an airplane? For me, it means that I have finally arrived in a warm destination with an abundance of sunshine.
For instance, I recall disembarking at Honolulu, a typical island airport with a palm tree lined runway and tropical plants in the terminal. The midday sun was yellow and bright, and the airflow felt like straight out of a hairdryer.
Or take BKK airport before departing for Switzerland. There, I stayed in the taxi drop-off zone until the very last minute before boarding! I had a really hard time saying goodbye to the orange tinted Bangkok sun, knowing what would await me in Zürich: a layer of persistent fog.
This January, we all get to escape the fog thanks to SWISS!
The airline SWISS flies directly from ZRH to all kinds of sunny destinations: Dubai, Johannesburg, Miami, or Singapore.
And to drive home the mood boosting qualities of a getaway to the sun, SWISS is moving into Zürich’s main station with a huge installation. I was among the first to experience this cool display, and I would describe it as “the sun above the clouds”.
Imagine a platform of about 170 square meters, or the size of two 3.5 bedroom apartments. Now, add a semi transparent fabric which effortlessly floats above, simulating the clouds and fog which cover Switzerland these days.
And finally, behind the white fabric, there is a “sun” made up of a large globe dotted with LED lamps. As time passes, the sun will shine in changing light temperatures from warm to cool, beautifully reflecting in the cloud.

I really loved the experience of walking around this large exhibit, and I am convinced that you will, too!
