Zurich Tattoo 2013

Zurich Tattoo 2013A ratatat tat. Then a trombone, a bagpipe, and an assortment of wind instruments resonate across Münsterhof in downtown Zürich.

The Zurich Tattoo convention is declared open by the mayor of Zürich, and the bands from 6 different nations - Sweden, Mexico, Singapore, Jordan, the United Kingdom and Switzerland - stand shoulder to shoulder at attention.

Held annually since 1981, this event was previously known as the "Zurich Police Music Festival". Since the 2006 inauguration of the "Tattoo" series in Zürich, the festival is now among the top three police and military music events in Switzerland.

Top wind ensembles will continue performing shows in Oerlikon throughout the week, culminating in a parade in the city centers on Saturday.
