Here is our ultimate foodie guide to Chinese restaurants in Zürich:

Ach'i

Ach'i is a very affordable Chinese restaurant in Zürich. They have various meat dishes and great soups. Our Haewon recommends trying their handmade dumplings. Just like the portions at Ach'i are generous, the restaurant is roomy. It is a great place to bring a group of friends for a meal.

Beyond Chinese Restaurant

This Mandarin Chinese restaurant is located just footsteps from the Sihlquai exit of the main train station. One of the highlights at the Beyond Chinese Restaurant is "shuizhuyu," a dish of spicy fish. It could be too spicy for some, but for everyone else, it tastes great in summer and winter alike...

BUND 39

Unlike most other Chinese restaurants, BUND 39 specializes in typical Shanghai "hu cai" cuisine. Think sweet braised pork belly ("hong shao rou"), soy scallion noodles ("cong you ban main"), and a range of vegetarian options. Dishes are fresh and easy to order as pictures of each are posted in the restaurant.

Apart from the food, we also like the fancy interior design, which contributes to the cozy atmosphere of this fine restaurant. Bund 39 is located between Helvetiaplatz and Stauffacher.

Hotpot Restaurant Chopstick

Just across the alley from the original Chopstick Restaurant opened another restaurant. Both offer lunch menus, but reservations are only taken for the new restaurant.

Restaurant Chopstick Zürich

The dishes at Hotpot Restaurant Chopstick are quite generous and close to the Chinese standard of tenderness. The Beijing Duck is crispy on the outside yet tender and moist on the inside.

The hotpots come in three variations, starting at 38 francs per person. The soup can either be clear, spicy, or tomato-based. (We particularly like the fish dish, which is part of all menus.)

Hongxi Chinese Restaurant

The kitchen at Hongxi offers contemporary Chinese cuisine and can be considered to be among Zürich’s top five. For one, the Hong Kong chefs can whisk up a delicious stir-fry dish.

But when it comes to the (freshly prepared) dim sum, they are not quite up to the standard of a Cantonese foodie. On top, portion sizes of the steamed buns and dumplings are small, and it is not uncommon to walk out with a large tab and a hungry stomach...

Khujug Restaurant

Here is a fairly new Chinese restaurant in Zürich with affordable lunch menus: Khujug. It is Sichuan style, so the dishes are naturally very spicy with some brave ingredients. (For this reviewer, they are super delicious!) The interior design is rather post-modern with most-see decor.

LE Cuisine

LE Cuisine is among the latest Chinese restaurants in Zurich. Their new restaurant just steps from Langstrasse features a small menu of Shanghai specialties: okra, tofu, and beef noodle soup.

Okra salad, homemade dumplings, tofu dishes, and one delicious beef rice noodle soup. There are some special bento dishes as well. And finally, no wonder the vibes at LE are so great: the character 乐 (le) stands for happiness in Chinese.

Lotus Garden Asian Kitchen

From the Enge station, just walk up one block to find this Taiwanese/Chinese cuisine delight. Lotus Garden Asian Kitchen serves a buffet-style lunch, which is very reasonably priced. Plus, if you bring your own box, you get a discount.

For dinner, it is always a good idea to reserve as you will find a lot of groups having family-style dinners. From duck dishes to fish dishes, the menu is diverse and homey. (Thanks for sharing this tip, Haewon!)

Peking

The aptly named Peking Restaurant is a go-to restaurant for Beijing duck. And given that this is Zürich, the waiters are exceptionally nice, and prices are very modest.

Uncle 7

Located just a short walk from the Sihlquai exit of the main station, Uncle 7 is the perfect place for any dim sum lovers out there. Uncle 7 offers an affordable lunch buffet with freshly cooked selections, but you may also request to eat off the menu.

Among their specialties are "cheungfan" rice noodle rolls with chicken feet, something not available at any other Chinese restaurants in Zürich. When chewing those delicious dumplings, you can tell that the dough was homemade... What sets this place apart from many other Chinese restaurants in Zürich is the exceptionally friendly service and the authentic Hong Kong-style menu.

Wesley's Kitchen

Wesley's Kitchen serves juicy Bao's with pork or veggies. The chefs at Wesley’s Kitchen present modern Shanghai cuisine, with the pan-fried bun, "xiaolongbao," being a must-try.

The menu also includes fresh tuna and salmon dishes and crispy shrimp or (very recommendable) fatty pork belly. Check out the lunch options as this restaurant is not a very good value for the money during dinner.
