Great Deals in Switzerland? YES, PLEASE!

Luxury. Porsche. Five Stars. Golden. Quality. Banks. Swiss Francs. Insurances. Watches. Price, price, price. Money, money, money.

Switzerland is infamous for expensiveness and has certainly earned this reputation, but we have some good news for you: There is life after luxury! Better said, there is a parallel world of offers, discounts, and very very affordable items for you to discover!

Thanks to Newly Swissed, you will now belong to the exclusive bunch who know where to discover the best bargains, steals and the I-can't-believe-it-was-so-cheap offers... So it is up to you: Share this information with your friends, or keep it for yourself and show off your stuff instead!

1. Dein Deal and Groupon

These websites offer incredible deals for mostly leisure activities, such as restaurants, spas, hotels, health & wellness, sport, culture, etc.

New offers are posted every day for various Swiss cities. Discounts are often 50 percent or more, such as for romantic dinners at less than 20 CHF per couple, photo books for 9 CHF, paintball days for 40 CHF, renting a Lamborghini, learning to fly a plane... If you don't believe me, go check it out!

2. My-Store, dress-for-less, Veepee, and many more...

The online store model is rapidly expanding in Switzerland, finally offering brand products at very very reduced prices but with very little stock (so you'd better be fast). Just like with Groupon and Dein Deal, the offers are only available for a short period of time. However, their niche consists mostly of products, such as clothing items, accessories, etc.

3. Flea Markets/Street Markets

Coming from a country where street markets are an integral part of Spanish culture, and being a committed fan of them, I felt a bit frustrated at the beginning when I arrived here and didn't seem to find any.

However, during the 6 months of living here, I have proactively looked for them and I have actually discovered a famous flea market at Bürkliplatz in Zürich (opened May - October).

There is also a usually crowded market at Helvetiaplatz. (Attention Eagle Eyes: good stuff seems to be hidden)...

And well, not to be forgotten are the original shopping possibilities in the Aussersihl and Zürich-West district, with its young designers and numerous pop-up street markets.

4. Outlet Stores

TROIS POMMES and Fashion Fish are the most memorable outlets to recommend in Zürich, the first one offering several brands in many stores hidden around the city, and the second one being set up like a standard mall.

And then, one of the advantages of the location of Switzerland is that you can visit the biggest outlet mall in Europe by simply crossing the border into Germany... This hint is in violation of the theme, but the Outlet City in Metzingen is nothing like you've ever seen before! It is an actual village, so you seriously have to go there!

5. Brockenhaus

The Brockenhäuser are basically second-hand stored where you can find any kind of article you could imagine. The items are unique and rare, so I recommend you check back often to get the best deals! The charm is based on the always-changing eclectic offers; every time you go there, it will be different! (Zürich Brockenhaus)

We're looking forward to your secret Switzerland deals!
