Hotel Schweizerhof Lenzerheide: design meets tradition

Hiking in LenzerheideHotel Schweizerhof in Lenzerheide does not advertise its street address much. This turned out to be a telling sign of the rich tradition of this hotel.

From the moment we stepped through the front doors, it became clear why an address is not really needed in the first place: Artifacts from more than a century of hosting guests were spread among the rustic dining rooms and the Alpine chic lobby.

At the Crossroads of Design and Tradition

The Alpine valley with Lenzerheide at its center has always been a pathway of strategic importance. Part of the Julier Pass PostBus Route, it was used during Roman and Medieval times to transport goods such as silk, wood, coffee or foods. The first hotels started to pop up during the 19th century, catering to horse carriage drivers.

Hotel Schweizerhof was among the first hotels in Lenzerheide and has been continuously operated since 1904. Today, this design hotel stands for Alpine luxury and tradition. We would like to believe that some of this rich history was transported on to us during our stay...

Alpine Chic Design Rooms

Our suite was appropriately classified as "Alpenchic". We felt very much at home among the contemporary furniture and open floor layout.

A Playground called Lenzerheide

With all that Hotel Schweizerhof has to offer on its premises or nearby, you may never have to leave the place!

However, we did. And what we found was a veritable playground with hiking paths, mountain peaks, downhill biking trails and spa offerings. We were pleasantly surprised that any fares for buses, cable cars, or ski lifts are complimentary for the duration of the stay (and including the day of arrival). So we did not hesitate and hit one of the mountains nearby for a memorable hike!

Hiking in LenzerheideLenzerheide even has a charming lake for swimming in the summer - or ice skating in the winter! The squirrel forest at the entrance of town is left to nature (at least so it seems). The pine trees exhumed the kind of fresh scent you may remember from forest walks in your childhood. And yes, we did spot some furry squirrels, too!

Oriental Luxury at the Hamam Spa

After a long day of hiking or skiing, there is nothing better to do than soak in a hot tub or rejuvenate in a sauna. This is exactly what we did after our hike! And to our pleasant surprise, our hotel features a full size Turkish hamam spa!

Hotel Schweizerhof LenzerheideHaving been to several hamams before, this Oriental spa with a modern touch was among the largest and most stylish we had ever seen... It truly felt good to relax in this exclusive place, and it felt even better knowing that we were safely nestled among the gorgeous mountains of Grisons!
