Paléo Festival Nyon: Here are 6 definite things to do

Paléo Festival Nyon 2019

Lenny Kravitz, Macklemore, Pixies or Twenty One Pilots: the Paléo Festival is one of the biggest open-air festivals in Switzerland, attracting some of the biggest stars in the industry.

You must have surely heard about it? Paléo takes place every year around mid-July on the Plaine de L'Asse in Vaud. It is a unique atmosphere and I like attending it every year. Here are six things you must do when at the Paléo Festival. Make sure to read this small bucket list carefully before going so you will not miss a thing...

See a concert at the Grande Scène

Paléo has no less than six stages. But there is one stage in particular that sets itself apart from the rest: the Grande Scène with its vibrant moods. This is also where most of the big acts perform and where the crowd is full of life. This year, there were well-known stars such as Lana Del Rey, Angèle, The Cure and many more.

Try all types of foods from around the world

From Thai curries to American style hot dogs, Paléo has a variety of food stands from around the world. My advice: try something new every day! But head there as early as possible to avoid the huge queues… For a change, why not try the edible insects of InsectaFood? This will surely be something to write home about.

Immerse yourself in the theme of the Village du Monde

The Village du Monde is what makes Paléo so unique. Every year, there is one region or culture that is highlighted. This time around, it was the region of Quebec.

In order to make you feel as if you are really there, Paléo puts out typical food stands, concerts from traditional singers and amazing decorations. From Quebec, they had the famous poutine (chips, cheese and gravy), Queue de Castor (fried pastry in the shape of a beaver’s tail) and even maple syrup rum!

Enjoy the fireworks display

On the last evening of the festival, which is always a Sunday, Paléo ends with a spectacular fireworks display. It typically lasts for about 15 minutes and is definitely an amazing way to end a beautiful and unforgettable week.

Explore the interesting structures

Every year, Paléo has a surprise up its sleeves. It is a quirky festival, after all! They always build an unusual yet interesting structure for everyone to explore during the course of the event.

This year, Paléo put out a huge structure which offered an amazing view on the entire festival grounds. There were even some really beautiful flowers that lit up at night...

Take a photo in front of the famous Paléo Festival sign

And finally, the sign that could probably be called the Hollywood sign of Paléo. Located at the entrance of the festival, it is an unmissable sight. Make sure to take a photo next to it or a selfie as proof that you were actually there... Or better yet, take several pictures because at night, the sign lights up, adding a magical glow to the festival.
