Switzerland is often associated with money and timeliness. While time is money for the most part, time can also equal time in so-called "time exchange" organizations.
In other words, we are talking about systems to pay for services with time rather than money. You're a native English speaker wanting to trade your skills to learn German? You like to fill in tax forms, but you dread weeding your lawn?
Bingo! You are likely to find someone in your community who does not mind plucking weeds in exchange for having their taxes done. Whatever the task or skill might be: One hour donated results with one hour in the proverbial bank.
Even though the oldest time exchanges date back to the 19th century, it seems that this form of currency has recently gained ground as sustainable living becomes more of a focus.
The following is a list of time exchange organizations throughout Switzerland. Are you ready to get involved? Please let us know about your experience!
