Although most of what I read these days is electronic, I am old fashioned when it comes to magazines. So it really bugs me that foreign periodicals are so ridiculously unaffordable at Swiss newsstands.
I mean, who wants to shell out 15 Francs for a simple magazine?!?
I have no idea why, but pricing of American magazines is through the roof in Switzerland. For what it is worth, on a recent visit to Germany it became clear that the same magazines actually cost half in Euros.
So it would not be very "ingenious" to buy a foreign magazine at a kiosk around here now, would it?
However, if you are like me and you still need printed editions of your favorite magazines, check out this (incomplete) list. I have linked the respective titles to the lowest offer I was able to find online (for delivery in Switzerland):
- Better Homes & Gardens (US$34/yr)
- Condé Nast Traveler (CHF105/yr)
- The Economist (CHF190/yr)
- Fortune (CHF86/yr)
- Men's Fitness (US$40/yr)
- Newsweek (CHF96/yr)
- O: The Oprah Magazine (US$61/yr)
- Psychology Today (CHF46/yr)
- TIME Magazine (CHF99/yr)
- US Weekly (US$126/yr)
- VOGUE (CHF115/yr)
If you live abroad, where or how do you get your magazines?
