12 unmistakable signs that you’re becoming Swiss

There comes a time in the life of every Newly Swissed when they are not so "newly Swiss" anymore. While you used to secretly laughed about those Swiss who talked about the quality of the whipped cream on pastries, you suddenly find yourself caring, too.

No need to worry, though: this is just a sign that you are adjusting to your surroundings. A sign that you are becoming Swiss.

Here are 12 unmistakable signs that you're most likely becoming Swiss:

You can't stand a draft.

You buy a new TV because the old one doesn't match the furniture.

You get concerned about the style of your neighbors' curtains.

You pack a bottle of Rivella for any trips exceeding a day.

And you order take-out food at the "Take Away" counter without thinking twice.

Your definition of a vacation is a four-month road trip across the US.

You buy your chicken dinner from the Güggelimaa vendor.

You judge a restaurant by the quality of the chairs.

You get embarrassed when visitors from abroad ask for a "doggie bag" at the restaurant.

You start doing the dishes while your party is still in full swing.

And you expect everyone to leave by 11:30 PM.

You don't mind the fighter jets flying practice rounds while you're sunbathing on your balcony.

  • I always take two bottles of Rivella With me when going to China. You can conveniently buy them at the store after security (just in case you shouldn’t know). For all non-Swiss: Rivella is healthy, gooood, and it may safe your life in case of only finding “inappropriate” food.

  • Sorry, but this seems to be another post directed to a particular branch of non EU citizens, not only that, but having a bigger salary in Switzerland will not make a conscious person go out of their philosophy and become an exuberant consumist…
