Urban Breakfast in the CLOUDS above Zürich

We have quickly figured out that brunch is a cool and happening thing in Switzerland. Here in Zürich, friends who are too busy to meet during the week gather at one of the many brunch restaurants on weekends. In fact, the term "brunching" is Swinglish and stands for "let's do brunch" - even we get it by now!

Brunching in the CLOUDS

All-inclusive brunch buffets full of choices are perfect for lazy Sundays. After sleeping in, meeting for brunch can turn into the main activity of the day (and may often extend into the late afternoon).

But sometimes, we prefer a simple but no less delicious breakfast. And this is why the idea of the à la carte "Urban Breakfast" at the CLOUDS Bistro in Zürich appealed to us. On a recent Sunday, we joined our blogger friends Katja and Walter from reisememo.ch to rise above the urban Zürich West...

From Bagels to Cappuccino, from Pancakes to Prosecco

What separates CLOUDS from other brunch restaurants in Zürich is the mere height. On the 35th floor of the Prime Tower, this classy bistro happens to be located in the single highest building in Switzerland!

And we could barely get enough of that magnificent birds-eye perspective: There are tiny trains leaving the station, church towers sticking out from the Old Town, and Lake Zürich with the Alps in the distance.

But in front of us is the "CLOUDS Breakfast", which includes a tray of Swiss cheese, Alpine deli meats, fruits and two latte macchiato. At 24 Francs per couple, we were surprised to also find an attractive selection of jams, butter croissants and Swiss Zopf bread.

Our next visit to CLOUDS is already in the books. But this time around, we are looking forward to experience Zürich by night... Maybe combined with this dessert?

Our advice: Go for that "CLOUDS Breakfast" to start out, but combine it with the non-alcoholic "Fruit Infusion" drink! It is the perfect combination to kick off your weekend while leaving enough space for a late lunch in the city...
