The Museum for Modern Art in Zürich is hosting a rather exceptional, if not to say provocative, exhibition: "Your Saliva is my Diving Suit in the Ocean of Pain."
Pipilotti Rist is a Swiss video installation art guru, and her latest works will be on display through May 8. In case you were wondering: The exhibition's loud title was taken from one of the artist's songs. Kunsthaus Zürich is now showing some older Pipilotti works from the 1980's, as well as some new creations. The exhibition is very playful and random, and the installations surprise with the creative approach.
Take the magical Pixel Forest which sends you in a half-trance, daydreaming state while you lay down on a cozy carpet.
Or you can slide through "floating videos."
You can take out the small flashlight you received at the entrance to discover and play shadow games.
You can watch a video from the depths of a giant seashell and find out what a purse has got to tell you.
And there is an underpants chandelier.
I recommend the free of charge smartphone app including an audio guide in order to learn some why’s and what for’s of the various installations. And a word of caution: Some things cannot be un-seen...
