47 museums in Zürich will open their doors for a special night of cultural events! Whether you are interested in art and culture, crazy about science and technology or just fancy a romantic ferry ride, I am sure that will find something you enjoy at Zürich's museums...
This "long night of Zürich museums" (die lange Nacht der Zürcher Museen, as it is called in German) starts at 7 PM on Sept 1 and ends at 2 AM the following morning. Almost fifty museums and cultural venues will participate in what is one of the most popular Zürich events each year.
Each of the museums has its own program of events, which can include tours, lectures, and talks. There will be something for everyone, from photography workshops for kids to some special shows for people with hearing or visual impairments.
Tickets cost just CHF 25, which includes free rides on the VBZ museum shuttle all night long. It can normally cost that much to visit only one museum in Zürich, so this is a bargain. Plus, children under 16 years and people accompanying those with disabilities get free admission. So this is a wonderful opportunity to go out with friends or bundle up your kids for an unforgettable night at the museum!

Zurich Cultural Scene
It is no secret that Zürich is a city with money, so culture is very well supported. Housing some of the finest museums and art galleries in Switzerland, Zürich enjoys a vibrant cultural scene. The two most famous museums in Zurich are the Kunsthaus art museum, as well as the Landesmuseum (Swiss national museum).
The Kunsthaus in Bellevue is best known for its sculptures of Rodin and Alberto Giacometti. There you will also find world-famous painters like Monet, Van Gaugh and Picasso. The Landesmuseum, which is right beside the Zürich main train station in a mock Gothic castle, showcases creative and interesting displays about Swiss history and culture.
Ferry & Food
A special ferry service will connect some of the participating museums in the Seefeld area (Seefeldquartier). Riding on the "MS Sentosa" ferry is yet another cool benefit of "Lange Nacht der Zürcher Museen"! Once you have tried the ferry and museum shuttle, grab a free bicycle courtesy of "Züri rollt" and pedal to your next destination...
Finally, man cannot live on culture and beauty alone, so several of the museums are organising catering...
The museums and art galleries of Zurich enjoy almost 1.5 million visitors a year. So if you haven't had time to check them out yet, September 1 could be your chance!
