This Saturday, the opera “Aida” will extend its reach beyond the opera house. Thousands of spectators will be able to watch a live performance on a giant screen on Sechseläutenplatz – at no charge! Bring your friends and family to enjoy a summer night under the open skies of Zürich…
The latest interpretation of Giuseppe Verdi’s “Aida” features Aleksandrs Antonenko, one of the most sought after tenors. In the role of Radamès, his counterpart Aida is played by Latonia Moore, an American soprano.
This year, the main sponsor Zurich Insurance is hoping to attract an ever diverse audience to the second annual outdoor opera. As part of the publicity before the event, they have hired Swiss rapper “Knackeboul” to go out and visit a couple of popular Swiss opera singers.
Does an opera have mass appeal? Rapper Knackeboul explores this question and discovers that the opera has many things in common with his own business. In fact, he decides that rap and opera are very much alike, convincing the two opera singers to record a song with him.
Check out the result and don’t miss the live performance this Saturday!
The venue opens at 5 PM, and the live transmission of “Aida” commences at 7 PM. No ticket is required, but bring your own chairs or rent a folding chair for 15 francs.
